Founded by John H. Johnson, the monthly publication has been and remains a staple in African American homes since its first published issue in the fall of 1945.  Depicting the lifestyle of and addressing issues pertinent to the post-war, Black middle class, Ebony magazine has evolved right along side its target demographic.  During its uninterrupted run, Ebony has featured cover stories on prominent members of the Black diaspora from every sector including, politics, religion, entertainment, business, education, science, and the arts.  Invested in presenting topics that affect African Americans in particular, Ebony has done so in a consistently authentic and life-affirming manner.  For the most current and relevant stories, affecting the African American community visit
